October 1st, 2014 – John is doing very well. His breathing has improved exponentially.
He’ll be in the PICU at McLane Children’s for at least a week, which is standard with trach surgery.
After a week, he’ll then be moved to a regular room and remain there until his doctors are comfortable with our training of how to properly care for his trach. It’s much simpler than a g-button so we’re not too concerned about that.
The absolute earliest he could go home would be next Friday.
Jacqueline will stay the remainder of the time, coming home once to be with Joseph for his surgery next Tuesday. It’s just a tonsillectomy and he’ll go home the same day.
